New service from EMES

EMES now offers service to Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco. The service originates in the port of Fos, which is east of Marseilles and plays an important role in France’s import and export business. In place since the month of April, this service is also beneficial for Turkish industries that want to import goods from France.

The new service [that Hapag Lloyd Overseas] has started as part of this expansion is an important service aimed at the needs of industries in Kocaeli that want to connect with the Far East.

Arfor, Arkas’ freight-forwarding and logistics services company, and Autoport, Arkas’ terminal in Izmit, are working together on project shipments. As part of this cooperation, components used in the construction of a factory were transported from Izmit to Libya in May.

Grimaldi Lines, a company with one of the largest Ro-Ro fleets in the world, started a new service in May in conjunction with Finnlines, one of its subsidiaries. This weekly service connects the Mediterranean Sea to countries in the Baltic Sea, particularly Russia.

Marport was one of the attendees at the Port Finance International Conference, held in Istanbul on May 12-13. At the conference, port and terminal operators and financial institutions focused on current issues and trends.

After the Haydarpaşa-Izmit railway line was completed in 1873, the station building, warehouse and storage buildings were finished in 1920 after 12 years of construction. Today this site is a cultural center that includes the Archaeology Museum building.

Arkas is the primary sponsor of a project named “Journey into History via Izmir-Foça-Marseilles”, which intends to relive and document the impact of the Aegean Sea on Europe’s relationships throughout history. As part of this project, preparations are being made to send off the ship Kybele in a ceremony to be held in Foça on May 2nd.
