Arkas Transport continues investing at full steam

Arkas Transport increased the number of trucks in its fleet to 416 with the addition of 31 Renault Premium tractor purchased in 2008, thus making a total investment of 15 million dollars in vehicles and equipment over the past three years.

Arkas Transport provides domestic container transport services from the ports of Istanbul, Gemlik, Izmir, Mersin and Trabzon as well as its terminals in Çerkezköy, Bozöyük, Ankara, Kayseri and Konya, generating solutions for different sectors and a variety of transportation needs while it continues to expand its fleet. Arkas Transport increased the number of trucks in its fleet to 416 with 31 new Renault Premium 440.19 T 4x2 trucks added with a ceremony held on April 25.

Mehmet Bezal, General Manager of Arkas Transport, and Gino Costa, General Manager of Renault Trucks Turkey, participated in the ceremony, which was held in Istanbul. In his speech at the delivery ceremony, Mehmet Bezal, General Manager of Arkas Transport, said, “Right now Arkas Transport provides service all over Turkey with 416 trucks and 513 trailers. We have a very new fleet of trucks, because the transport of containers on highways requires special care and expertise. We have strengthened our fleet with the Renault Premium trucks that have been newly added, and we will continue to strengthen it further with more investments.”

Fifteen million dollars of investment over the past three years
With the 31 Renault Premium trucks added to the fleet, the investment Arkas Transport has made in its vehicles and equipment over the past three years has exceeded 15 million dollars. In this time period, Arkas Transport has purchased 88 trucks, 100 semi-trailers and special equipment and it has increased the size of its fleet by 12 percent over last year. In addition to its trucks, Arkas Transport’s inventory of equipment includes 416 semi trailers, 3 lowbed trailers, 64 semi-trailers with generators, 12 sidelifters, 9 dumper chassis trailers and 9 tipping chassis trailers. In parallel with this increase in its fleet, Arkas Transport has achieved a 20 percent increase in annual shipments, reaching 227,247 shipments of containers. Arkas Transport has a goal of transporting 262,380 containers in 2008.
