Provides services between the Black Sea and Mediterranean portsPrivately-owned Turkish box carrier firm EMES Shipping & Transport S.A. announced on Tuesday that it will change its name to ARKAS Container Transport S.A. with effect from January 1, 2010.Going forward, the company said that it will operate under the ARKAS Line brand."EMES accounting systems have already been altered to comply with the new name," the company said in a statement to Ocean Intelligence."Therefore invoices issued as from the 1st January 2010 should bear the new company name ARKAS Container Transport S.A."According to the company's website, EMES, a subsidiary of Arkas Holding, began operations in 1996 with feeder services and now provides liner services in order to meet the growing demand of export and import in the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.EMES added in the statement that the feedering arm of Arkas Holding, EMES Feedering S.A.M. will continue to operate under its present name.As of October 2009, EMES is thought to own and operate a fleet of 27 vessels with a total combined capacity of 32.227 TEU, making it the 33rd largest container line in the world.
