Ramping up reefers in Algeria

GERMAN box line Hamburg Süd shuffled its agency network in Algeria today to ramp up reefer flows into the country. Its new agent Arkas Algerie SPA,with offices in Algiers and Oran, controls space and plugs for 60 reeferboxes at the Portsec container depotin Algiers, Hamburg Süd said.Availability of reefer plugs in the ports proved to be a bottleneck forthe carrier so far. But the realignment allows the company to serve the “substantial growth in demandfor imports in Algeria as well as customer demand for more reefer cargo”, the company said.Algiers and Oran are served by the carrier’s NAFS feeder service, with connections to key markets in Latin America and Europe via Italianports.Agency duties in Algeria were previously handled by Dolphin One.
