First arrival at Autoport, Turkey’s first dedicated car terminal

Arkas, a prominent Turkish international transportation firm, recently celebrated the first arrival at Autoport, Turkey's first automotive terminal located in Yeniköy. The vessel was Wallenius Wilhelmsen's "Toba", which discharged a total of 147 automobiles and 119 units of construction equipment, as well as spare parts, at the new facility, which has an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles. The Turkish automotive industry manufactures over one million motor vehicles per year and generates approximately 20% of Turkey’s total exports, making it a driving force in the economy. Arkas has partnered with the Japanese Mitsui & Co to bring the first vehicle terminal to Turkey that will serve multiple automobile manufacturers. Construction began on Autoport in 2006. The terminal is located on 16 ha of land and equipped with two piers, 328 m and 246 m long, where two vessels can dock simultaneously.
