Arkas Container Vessel Fleet and Marport completes efforts for ISPS

Arkas completed its efforts for International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) as of 1 July.

Following the September 11, the world recognized terrorism as a global issue and decided to deal with it collectively and in a coordinated manner. Thus, now, the port managers, vessel owners and carriers share the responsibilities under ISPS, developed to provide security of the ports and vessels and approved by International Marine Organization (IMO).

ISPS, which requires inclusion of all IMO member countries and marine companies into the system, covers the vessel and port security as well as installing and operating security equipment, controlling cargo deliveries and dispatches.

All the vessels in the Arkas Container Vessel Fleet, passed inspections and obtained International Ship Security Certificates (ISSC), thus these vessels will be able to sail in international waters in compliance with international regulations.
